Robert Salzler leads a proteomics and immunopeptidomics laboratory within the Therapeutic Proteins division at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, where he has spent 18 years building analytical and translational capabilities at the forefront of antigen biology. His laboratory specializes in high-resolution mass spectrometry–based immunopeptidomics, proteogenomics, and the discovery of non-canonical peptide antigens and cell-surface targets across oncology, infectious disease, and autoimmunity. By integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic evidence, his team maps antigen presentation landscapes — including those derived from the dark proteome — to identify novel targets and develop fit-for-purpose biomarker assays that inform therapeutic programs from discovery through clinical translation. His work spans the full pipeline from immunopeptidomics experiment design and computational analysis through TCR-mimetic antibody discovery and peptide–MHC-targeted CAR-T cell engineering.
