The New York Academy of Sciences is proud to present Advancing the Dark Proteome Towards Clinical Impact.

Human diseases rely on the collective dysregulation of both conventional proteins as well as those belonging to the “dark proteome”. This latter category is a broad term used to describe proteins that are poorly characterized, unannotated, or not detected by standard proteomic techniques.  As efforts to characterize proteins of the dark proteome continue to expand, so has the recognition for the roles of these proteins in diseases, including cancer, autoimmune diseases, and genetic/metabolic disorders. In response, research has begun to therapeutically target the dark proteome as a new avenue for treating different diseases. This symposium examines the emergence of the dark proteome field, driven by technological innovation and its impact on clinical translation and development.

In addition to keynote presentations and plenary talks from leading researchers in academia and industry, the program will feature short talks and poster presentations selected from submitted abstracts. Ample networking opportunities will give participants the chance to connect with peers, collaborators, and leaders shaping the future of dark proteome research.

Join us in New York City to share knowledge, foster new collaborations, and be part of the conversation driving the next breakthroughs in dark proteome research.
