Kubra Kaygisiz, PhD
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Kübra Kaygisiz is a chemist by training (BSc./MSc. at JGU Mainz, Germany) and earned her PhD in the group of Prof. Dr. Tanja Weil at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research including a research stay in the lab of Prof. Dr. Itaru Hamachi at Kyoto University, Japan, supported by a JSPS fellowship. She subsequently joined the group of Prof. Dr. Rein Ulijn at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center in New York City, USA, for her first postdoctoral appointment. In 2025, she started as a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Dr. Bradley Pentelute at MIT Chemistry, supported by a Leopoldina Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Kübra’s research focuses on the design and discovery of functional peptide materials, integrating experimentation with computational approaches to uncover structure–property relationships across molecular and supramolecular scales.
Her research has been recognized with several awards, such as the Otto Hahn Medal (Max Planck Society), Kalkhof-Rose Polymer Science Award, Visionary Award at the Global Hackathon for LLMs in Materials and Chemistry, and the Runner-up award at the Merck Innovation Cup.
