Charles Jayne is a Senior Scientist at Merck, specializing in the peptide modality for medicinal chemistry. In recent roles, he has supported cardiovascular and oncology programs through peptide design and synthesis. With the expansion of the use of non-canonical amino acids, Charles has an interest in developing curated symbols for use in HELM notation that are readable and structurally informative to users. He previously worked on oligonucleotide as well as small-molecule medicinal chemistry efforts including GPCR targets and HCV/NS3 protease inhibitors. Charles holds a MS degree in Chemistry from Wichita State University. He is an author/inventor on peer-reviewed publications and patent applications in medicinal chemistry and peptide modalities.
