Shruti Naik, PhD
Associate Professor
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Dr. Shruti Naik, Ph.D., is an international leader in immunology and tissue stem cell biology, serving as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Immunology and Immunotherapy, and Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research leverages cutting-edge technologies to explore immune cell communication with tissues, with a focus on developing therapies that prevent inflammatory damage and promote organ rejuvenation at cellular and molecular levels. Naik’s pioneering work has uncovered key insights into the microbiota's influence on immunity, the epigenetic memory of stem cells, and the mechanisms driving immune-tissue interactions in repair and inflammation, with findings published in top tier journals such as Cell, Science, and Nature. Beyond her scientific contributions, Naik is a dedicated advocate for diversity in science, sharing her insights through appearances on NBC, NPR, Wired, and other platforms. She is also an executive producer of the film Six Degrees from Science. Her numerous accolades for her scientific achievements, mentorship of trainees, and advocacy efforts include the Regeneron Award for Creative Innovation, L’Oréal For Women in Science Award, Damon Runyon Dale F. Frey Award for Breakthrough Scientist, Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists, Takeda International Innovators in Science Award, Pew-Stewart Scholar, NIH Director’s Innovator Award DP2, Packard Fellowship, Burrows Welcome PATH Award, and the NYSCF Robertson Stem Cell Investigator designation.
