Description
Research in our department spans the disciplines of chemistry, including organic, inorganic, physical, and theoretical/computational chemistry. In addition, labs grounded in these traditional areas pursue problems at the interface with biology (i.e., chemical biology) and materials science (i.e., nanoscience and materials chemistry). We benefit greatly from a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment, including strong interactions with other units at NYU, at NYU’s Global sites (especially Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, and Tel Aviv), within the extensive scientific community in New York City, and around the world. Based in the department are a newly established Chemical Biology Initiative, and the Simons Center for Computational Physical Chemistry, as well as the Molecular Design Institute, all of which thrive as intellectual hot-spots at the cutting edge of their fields.
