Anna Knoerlein, PhD
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Dr. Anna Knörlein is a chemical biologist whose research focuses on the molecular mechanisms governing RNA biology. She is currently a Postdoctoral Associate in the Chemical Biology Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where she works with Yael David to investigate the impact of non-enzymatic RNA modifications on cellular function and disease.

Dr. Knörlein earned her doctorate in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from ETH Zürich under the supervision of Jonathan Hall, where her research explored how RNA structure influences UV cross-linking in RNA–protein complexes. Her scientific training spans international research experiences, including research stays at the University of Cambridge, UK, McMaster University, Canada and Philipps Universität Marburg, Germany, with a strong foundation in organic, medicinal, and nucleic acid chemistry.
Her current work is supported by competitive fellowships, including the STARR BRIA Scholars Fellowship and an SNF Postdoc Mobility Grant, reflecting her contributions to understanding chemical modifications of nucleic acids and their role in human disease.
