Moeka Sasazawa is a PhD candidate in the Department of Chemistry at New York University, where she conducts her doctoral research in the Saurabh Lab. Building on her exposure to single-molecule microscopy as an undergraduate at Stony Brook University and her master’s work synthesizing peptide-mimetic molecules to disrupt the fungal cell wall at NYU, she currently uses advanced microscopic and spectroscopic tools to investigate how macromolecules and their local chemical environments spatiotemporally within cells. Her ultimate goal is to understand how these organizational principles can be perturbed and leveraged for therapeutic intervention in the future.
