Thomas Marron, MD, PhD, is the Associate Director for Translational Research of the Tisch Cancer Center, as well as Director of the Early Phase Trials Unit (EPTU), Tenured Professor of Medicine, Hematology and Oncology, and Professor of Immunology and Immunotherapy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Holding a PhD in immunology, Dr. Marron collaborates with Miriam Merad leading a translational research program spanning the Tisch Cancer Center and the Precision Immunology Institute. His work centers on understanding how novel immunotherapies and combinatorial therapeutic strategies reshape the tumor immune microenvironment in solid tumors — knowledge he translates directly into the design of rational clinical trials. He leverages biospecimen-rich, window-of-opportunity pre-operative trials to apply deep immune phenotyping to the immunodynamic changes induced by standard and experimental therapies, dissecting lymphoid and myeloid lineage complexity through single-cell transcriptomic and proteomic platforms — an approach now extended to patients with metastatic disease as well as precancerous lesions.
